Art Is An Adventure

“To me art is an Adventure into an unknown world, which can only be explored by those willing to take the risk.”  Mark Rothko

Exactly.

Art is an Adventure

More playing with photography this morning, thinking about contrasts and tone, line, texture, no colour.  Taking a risk.

A Rothko quote coupled with a black and white photograph!  The master of colour Mark Rothko in a post, devoid of all colour.  That, is not at all what fans of Rothko would be anticipating.

So,  it was a risk on my part.

Even so,  I love the tree image for its scale and how the mind can imagine climbing skywards on a fantastic adventure.

In art, I don’t mind taking risks.

There’s not a lot of genuinely scary things that really can happen to me,  now is there?!!

Rothko’s second quote that resonates:

“A painting is not a picture of an experience,  but is  the  experience.”

Mark Rothko,  a brilliant man, gorgeous colour filled paintings.  If you haven’t seen his work before – go straight to Google for a colour fest!        cheers, Debi

The act of creation, in any media is a fascinating and magical process. I simply love to create. Expressing in color, line, tone, texture - as if, they were words upon a page. Creating a uniquely me, interpretation. Enjoy More of my "one-of-a-kind" expressive art at society6.com/debiriley and, redbubble.com/people/debijriley/shop

      1. and it’s often not easy to find the trust to let go. painting does that for me at times – and writing too. I still remember the moment when I realised as a teenager that writing was something amazing – that i had discovered limitless space and possibilities and that it was open to me without condition, and it could be mine and I didn’t have to share with anyone and I could say what I wanted and needed to say, or delve into my imagination – dare and see what comes up. I’ll never forget that moment. Don’t think it’s too much to say that it changed my life.

    1. I’m so glad you too love him!
many don’t ‘get’ him… a woman once remarked to me, “its only just a bunch of squares!”
she didn’t ‘feel’ the colors apparently!

  2. And, what an exciting adventure we are all on. I can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner or turn in the road. Isn’t it fun to be sharing each other’s journeys.
