Inspirations

Stella Terrill Mann,

“Every time we say, Let there be! in any form,

something happens.”

I’ve been away.

Not literally, but figuratively. Taking a …. Pause. Reflecting.

Many of you, readers, customers, students and friends ask with increasing frequency, “When, are you going to post again?!”

“Soon, When it is Time.” Has been my response.

Artists, creative people in general go through cycles, and bursts of productivity.

Then, seemingly endless – long empty dry, droughts.

Where nothing is happening. So it seems on the surface.

But look deeper. And you discover all the myriad ingredients simmering and merging together quietly.

They just aren’t ready yet.

We have to learn patience.

It will happen. We will not be stuck in the drought or winter, forever!

Winter isn’t really a time of sleeping. Its a very busy time. Underneath the layers of earth, major preparations are being done.

Side note…..

I have been away for quite some time, so I decided to freshen the blog up a little.

I’m testing out a new WP format, and I will just have to press publish to see how it all goes. I like experiments!

I hope you like the change.

Thanks for your patience and continuing to ‘check in’ while I have been on pause and reflecting.

Cheers, Debi

The act of creation, in any media is a fascinating and magical process. I simply love to create. Expressing in color, line, tone, texture - as if, they were words upon a page. Creating a uniquely me, interpretation. Enjoy More of my "one-of-a-kind" expressive art at society6.com/debiriley and, redbubble.com/people/debijriley/shop

  1. So good to see you back and I agree with the simmering though seemingly nothing going on. Patience is key! I wondered about the new WP but no idea how to implement it, I will figure it out. Welcome back! Love the painting by the way. ❤️

    1. thank you Miss M!! the new WP took me by surprise. hoping it looks ok, but it is what it is. 🙂 I plan to try to do one a month, plus my IG. that’s more than enough social media. For those few years, it was taking 10+ hours min. a week; to do the blog. That is Way Too much, for ‘balance.’ thank you so much for saying hello. ❤ debi

      1. I totally agree Debi! I just do my blog and Instagram now and that’s enough for me too. There is far too much time consumed on Social Media these days and it’s time I would rather spend painting and drawing… ! Looking forward to your future creative projects…

    1. thank you Sharon! I quite like the rapidity, and ease of IG. less demanding of time… I think my WP posts will reflect this change in perspective. But, I’m going to try to do both. At my leisure. :). cheers!

    1. its great to express not just through brushstrokes and color, which, may or may not be so forthcoming… but with words. to other artists, sharing similar circumstances. I’m glad that you enjoyed this Jane, cheers!
