Sugar and Spice, a Flower

flower macro photograph, canon eos, 100mm lens, debi riley art

White petal skirts and hot fuschia stamen.

Pollen crystals, like sugar, falling.

Flowers, Sugar and Spice

What a pretty picture she paints in her pink and white frock!

Dressed up so girly, sugar and spice.

Crystals of pollen clutched so tightly, afraid to fall, yet falling anyway.

White satin petals, silky and smooth.

Looking so perfect,

sugar and spice.

My patio baskets of Christmas Cactus, have all decided to bloom.

I’ve left them alone, unfussed with. And they’ve decided to bloom as is, where they are. Hardy little plants.  I’m amazed they haven’t all died in the severe Perth drought and heat the past summer. Lucky me!

    1. thanks Jodi! I’ve been wanting to ‘try’ to consciously take photos for the “Feelings” that they will (hopefully) evoke in the Viewer…….
      I Believe…., in Sugar, I managed it.

  1. Wow! That photo and verse are both stunners. I am dying to grab my magenta paint and give this a go as an abstract piece. Just lovely, Debi! Everything about this is beautiful. I feel I’ve slipped into a flower. Thank you!

    1. thank you so much Laura!
I am on A Mission (there’ll be lots of falls) but I really want each image I present – to reach out – and move the person. in some way.
I think I was able to do this, with “Sugar” !
Thank you for telling me, how it made you feel.
People don’t realise, I love and appreciate that aspect of ‘blogging’…
to hear, how the image has touched you. Made you FEEL.

      1. thank you Laura! I loved getting up close. taking my time….
        Focusing and thinking.
I used my macro Canon lens, playing with the fstops.
I quite like this image, with the hints, suggestions. the zen like feel I created, with the fstop and the angle. It was worth the hassle.
the one thing that no one, called me on….. is the composition is poor.
half and half if you look. with the magenta on both ends, unfortunately going right into the diagonal corner pockets! NOT Good. not good for a painting, it would need to be resolved, ie Moved Over. and- It is all right, if (you) use the photo to paint from, Laura. 🙂

      2. Oops. Lol. I should have asked. I did try it this am but I wasn’t happy with it. I changed the composition a bit but not much. Added an indigo background it’s just all weird. I didn’t do it justice for sure. Love this shot. I hear you about the composition but I love it just as it is! 💕💜💕

      3. I did mention the permission issue, esp for others. it is important people know, to ask, not take, a vendor’s product. you (did) ask… Design, is a big thing and i will do a large post. but, not yet.not this week. too much involved…. lol
