Paint The Town Red

digital painting in red wine colors, with purple reflections, debi riley art

With titles of Wine Reflections and Night Lights you might wonder, if I am really out painting the town red!

However,  the images were strictly from my imagination with a lot of help from my camera and those editing programs once again.

Wine Reflections  #1 –   the colors of claret and burgundy  with lovely glittering colors being reflected as if in the glass

Night Lights  #2  –  the shimmer of street lights at midnight  on a rain slickened pavement

These 2 digital paintings were … surprisingly fun.  I tried a new editing filter and loved what I could do with it.

Both images are based on my own photographed images I’ve taken.

Using Iphoto, Preview, Acorn, Affinity, Filters for Photos and switching back and forth til I was finally happy with them.

I hope you enjoy the Night Lights and Wine Reflections in Paint the Town Red.

The act of creation, in any media is a fascinating and magical process. I simply love to create. Expressing in color, line, tone, texture - as if, they were words upon a page. Creating a uniquely me, interpretation. Enjoy More of my "one-of-a-kind" expressive art at society6.com/debiriley and, redbubble.com/people/debijriley/shop

  1. Oh, digital art! I love it. Before I learned to draw and “became an artist” 🙂 that was the only sort of art I could do. I might have to do a little computer searching and find a few of my creations. These are so gorgeous, Debi! I love the ripples and reflections you’ve added. And the colors! So bright and eye-catching. I’m really looking forward to seeing more.

    1. thanks Judith! and I’ve been just the opposite, never touching the digital programs. “just the real brush and paints” ….. til lately 🙂 its good to explore. I will always like the Real Brush in my hand though !

      1. The photo programs are a fun way to play with colors. Not nearly as satisfying though as creating with paints and pigments. Now that I’m able to do more things with art, I’d much rather create on paper and canvas and not a computer screen.

  2. You and Sharon and C may convert me, this is brilliant Debi. Seriously gorgeous. These images would look great on your S6 merchandise – is that what you’re thinking about? Really love them both. You indeed have a gift for creating art by any means!!

  3. Hi Debi, your digital art reflects your painting style. I can see these or parts of these images become paintings. Both images pull me in to investigate more. Have a beautiful day in Perth!
