Own The Sky

abstract oil painting, sunflower yellow and prussian blue paint, debi riley art

I see ….. a sunflower sky.

Own The Sky is next in my series on oil abstract paintings.

It is slightly more reflective. I feel I’ve been more contemplative with this one.  And,  you can tell, I never tire of my bird of paradise color duet.

Oil Abstract Painting

Wings Spread,

the seabirds glide far above the dark rocky outcrops.

Looking as though,  they Own the Sky.

Poem by  Ms.  Moem

I found a poem that is just so lovely.

It sinks right in.

And says so eloquently,  so powerfully all that I wish for….. in my paintings.

“Spread your wings.

Its Time, to fly.

Make the leap.

Own the Sky.”

Ms. Moem

Isn’t this the most delicious writing!?

Poem is   by Ms.  Moem

So far,  my Oil Abstract series has included:

Abstract Art  a definition

Colors I Love,   cobalt teal blue and orange

Finally,

What I see,  won’t be what everyone sees in this painting.

In this case, I did mention what I ‘saw’….merely give relevance to the beautiful poem I’d quoted.  Not to unduly sway your views or your ideas of what you would LIKE to see within this painting.

See what you want to see.

Spread your wings.  fly.

Own The Sky!!

  1. I love the painting and the thoughts. And, yes, I’m doing a little flying…as you’ll see if you visit my blog tomorrow. A friend persuaded me to do the ICAD 2016 challenge, and my first index card sent me off “flying”, so finding your colorful post and the perfect poem was quite a nice morning treat.

  2. that’s a wonderful poem and painting, dear Debi. What about turning the painting around? Then it would have a completely different expression. Have a nice day, cheers Mitza

  3. I love what you see, Debi, and am trying not to be influenced by it 🙂 Those words ARE delicious!!!! My first thought of what I saw was the action of the ocean – the tumultuous activity below as freedom and peace is above. I see movement of activity. BEAUTIFUL!!!

I just love your thought filled and considered comments Jodi!!!!!
a well known artist long ago told me “art is 80% THINKING and 20% doing” this really stuck with me, as I’d had it in reverse. He was being so polite!!

  4. I love the lines I’m seeing and trying to figure out if they are from a brush or from something pointy. Absolutely LOVE the poem. Fantastic! Very inspirational. Thanks, Debi! Every time I see CBT I think of you. 💜

    1. hi Nico, I can happily claim the painting! THANK YOU!!
      but, the title…
was by M. Moem who wrote the poetry I’d quoted in this post. so, the true credit for the Title, goes to her.
(I’m an odd ball like that….
but I think it is so important, in these days of such prevalent, piracy on the High Seas of Internet – to acknowledge the source or artist, where I got the material from.)

    1. I find there are many people that have really good blogs, with art and poetry that need “Sharing.” I know you reblog as well, when you discover something amazing. I should do it more often!
