A fun and happy blend of blues make this a Zen Beauty! I combined the blues with lovely deep crevices and textures suggesting boulders or …. perhaps a mountainside.
This is an acrylic painting on triple textured masonite wood board with multiple glazes to create that rich and layered look. I found all the many processes involved with this painting quite relaxing, soothing and fun to do.
The dark horizontal band of blue hinting at water anchors the image nicely.
Simple and with a natural landscape subject, this acrylic painting fits well into the 7 Days of Zen Series, especially Shizen.
Beautiful I love the colors!

My first impression was of a big tree by a lake with a snowy hillside behind it. Love it!

thanks! and, its not CTB…. fancy that. it was a fun piece to work on with the blue and gold combo. And creating all its layers was just a bit of time and therapy!

Watercolours are my favourite paintings and I really love your work, the colours – everything about them. Maybe it has something to do with your approach/attitude to life that comes thru. (Learning watercolour painting is on my bucket list even tho’ I don’t show any talent for art.)

Thank you, that is so lovely! my more laid back approach now… took time; but I’m more at ease with this way vs too frantic about ‘boo-boos’ and mistakes.
love your site, had a nice little stroll !!
if, you did give wc a go…. perhaps, begin with 1 color.
Burnt Sienna is a super one to Begin with. with 1 color to deal with…. there’s less stress, confusion, ‘stuff’ to deal with.

Yes! A mountainside for sure. Wow, breathtaking Debi! I have to ask if texture paste or any 3-D product was involved here? Beyond YOUR 3-Dness, that is lol. Or maybe just heavy body paint gave you that great craggy texture? Love it!!!

gesso and molding paste!
the paint was only ‘rubbed’ onto the surface. no brush. finger and cloth only ‘rub rub! thank you LL yours, 3d

Oh wait the board was triple textured with paste of some kind? I woke up after a weird dream and turned on my phone…and this is the strangeness that then erupts. 💙💙💙

gesso was put on first. 3 thin coats. then the molding paste.

Hi Debi, your Zen Beauty is such a stunning artwork. I see so much in this one painting. Right now I see a beautiful landscape that I like to take a walk through.

“I have no idea how he knows when I need him. We can go weeks without speaking, and then, when my blue moods threaten to turn black, he will show up and tell me my moods are:
azure
indigo
cerulean
cobalt
periwinkle
and suddenly the blue will not seem so dark, more like the color of a noon-bright sky.
He brings the sun.”
